So – having a new baby kind of puts a lot of things on hold….like housework, working out, date nights, doing your hair on a regular basis, etc… So, with that in mind, I feel the need to make a list of things that need some attention.
- my marriage. Regular date nights seem like ancient history around my house and that needs to change. I’m going to have to be creative though – we don’t have as much expendable income as we used to! The budget has become painful… š
- I need to be more honest with myself.
- reading – oh, how I miss reading! There are a lot of really good excuses why I haven’t read very much lately – but that’s all they are, excuses.
- potty training Reagan! ugghhhhh
- traveling – I want to take my kids to meet their great-grandparents and their family in Nashville.
- more time to cultivate friendships – I need more girl time
- keeping my house clean and organized. If I could organize things it would be easier to keep it clean I think
- my body – I desperately need to loose about 30 pounds
What do you want to accomplish in the next few months?
I will ditto your #1, the one about friendships, and my house BIG TIME.
I also have a goal of having at least 10 piano students at some point this year or at least by the end.
Also, I would like to start taking some online school courses through Cape Fear Community College. NO MORE EXCUSES. I will never stop looking back wishing, until I just stop listing all the reasons why I haven’t and do it already.
p.s. let me know if you want any tips on the effort to get the 30 pounds off you want to. I did it last year and would be happy to share with you how I got it off. It was the best 4 months, $65.00, and little bit of discipline I’ve ever invested in my life! Just let me know. Love ya!
#1- to school every week day until the week after thanksgiving
#2- to lose at least 10 pounds (I think I need to talk to Rachel!)
#3- to unpack the last of the boxes and start getting pictures on the wall
#4- This one is weird, but it’s really something I’m trying to do- to start praying three times a day and taking communion alone or with my family at least a couple times a week. Is that totally odd?
#5- To finish the afghan I’m making for a friend before winter sets in.
As far as cheap dates go- we really enjoyed the Romantic Nights date set (available at the Salt Shaker for $25). Most of those can be done at home, and they’re a change from sitting and watching TV together. They take some planning, but it’s fun, and my dh really got into it after a while.
And if it makes you feel any better, none of my children potty trained until they were nearly four, and I have only just gotten the first one out of night diapers. Try not to stress out about it.
Here’s a hug from afar, and to paraphrase from The Girlfriend’s Guide to the First Year: stretchmarks? swelling? thirty extra pounds and dark circles under you eyes? You look beautiful to me girl- you look like exactly what you are: a new mommy.
These days with Rylee and Reagan will pass unbelievable fast. Before you know it your baby will be having her 33rd birthday!
Right now the fatigue from lack of sleep, the stress from things undone and the new mommie extra pounds compete for the joy your treasures bring. It is no competition–they win hands down!
You will get things together, Reagan and Rylee can come play with Papa and Nana while you go out with Don and the creative side of you will shine again.
You are a great mother!
Can’t believe your son will be three tomorrow!!!
Love you,
Mom
